The Apple Watch, which was introduced in the Spring of 2015, was Apple’s first wearable device- a smartwatch developed to be compatible with the iPhone 5, 5C, 5S, 6 and 6 Plus. The Apple Watch is expertly designed and engineered, and surprisingly comfortable to wear. It has a ceramic back and comes in a stainless steel or space black stainless steel case. The Apple smartwatch was made available in three different styles: Apple Watch, Apple Watch Sport, and Apple Watch Edition. Each version comes with a variation of different cases and first or third-party interchangeable watchbands.
One of the Apple Watch’s most coveted features was the incorporation of a fitness and health-tracking platform, called Healthkit, that not only communicates with iOS and other Apple services and products, but also allows the user to share data with their healthcare providers. This App has a heart rate sensor, gyroscope, and an accelerometer, and measures how many calories burned, how often you move throughout the day and even provides goal-setting and fitness milestones to help keep you motivated
Some other cool Apple Watch features include: A retina display with Force Touch, Bluetooth 4.0, water resistant technology, up to 18 hours of battery life, an ambient light sensor, a speaker and microphone, and of course Wi-Fi capability (seriously, what would we do without Wi-Fi?). And, when donning your Apple Watch, you can use Apple Pay to quickly and easily make purchases, and even control your Apple TV!
But although this smartwatch is a convenient technological gadget, it is a convenience you’ll pay for. The Apple Watch carries a hefty price tag (originally debuting at $349) that may have made some consumers hesitate. The other drawback is that the Apple Watch must be used with an iPhone in order to work completely, since the watch uses the phone’s Bluetooth, GPS, and Wi-Fi to perform many of its features and services.
Bottom line: This watch is a pretty cool piece of tech that’s easy to wear and accomplishes many everyday tasks while still managing to be fashionable!
